Weapons charges for knife-wielding Richmond Hill man after incident outside Oshawa restaurant

A Richmond Hill man is facing weapons and drug charges after an incident outside a downtown Oshawa restaurant turned ugly.

Durham Police say a 28-year-old man was at a restaurant at Athol St. E. and Celina Saturday night when he was asked to leave by the owner. The suspect then got into an altercation with another man outside and produced a large knife before chasing the victim around a nearby parking lot.

Durham Police responded to the armed person call at 10:30 p.m. and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

Daniel Demasi is charged with assault with a weapon, possess of a dangerous weapon and possession of cocaine. He was released on an Undertaking.
