Whitby alt rockers Chastity to hit the main stage at Oshawa’s Convergence Festival

Alt-rockers Chastity will be taking the main stage at the Convergence Music & Art Festival September 23 in downtown Oshawa. showcase the talent of frontman Brandon Williams, who has deep roots in Oshawa and Whitby.
Hailing from Whitby, Chastity has carved a remarkable path in the music world, producing resonant songs that dive deep into the themes of isolation, resilience, and the human experience and act as an outstretched hand to those struggling with life in suburbia. With three critically acclaimed albums under their belt, including the cathartic Suffer Summer, released in January 2022, Chastity stands as a beacon of artistic evolution and innovation.
Chastity’s poignant lyricism and boundless love for outsider music will come to life in a free performance at the Convergence festival. “It is thrilling to welcome Chastity to the Convergence stage on September 23. They are a phenomenal example of the genre-bending, innovative music that is emerging from Durham Region and we can’t wait for you to experience them first hand,” said Oshawa Tourism Director Krista Licsi.
Williams’ songwriting delves into the intricacies of life, love, and the human condition and his lyrics explore the juxtapositions and complexities of his hometowns and the various experiences that have shaped his life. Through his music, Williams is able to capture the emotions and stories that bind us all, notes Licsi, creating an authentic connection with audiences.
Chastity’s music is a blend of 90s alternative guitar rock, indie pop, and alt-rock elements that resonate with listeners across many genres. Williams’ ability to seamlessly combine these influences results in a sound that is simultaneously nostalgic and fresh, giving Chastity a unique and recognizable presence in the music scene.
The Convergence Music and Art Festival celebrates artistic expression and community, bringing people together to appreciate the power of music, art, and Oshawa’s community. It will be taking over downtown Oshawa from September 22 to 24 with a cross-section of culturally-rich music featuring headliners The Strumbellas, Chastity, a variety of emerging local artists, a visual explosion of mind-bending art and light, and a culture jam of international cuisine in the form of an ultramodern street food alley presented by 360insights.
