Whitby Beach, two others posted as unsafe; eleven safe for swimming this long weekend

Both Beaverton beaches and Whitby Beach at Heydenshore Park are the only three beaches posted as unsafe in the Durham Region Health departments final beach report of the year.

Paradise Beach in Ajax; Frenchman’s Bay East and West beaches in Pickering; Iroquois Beach in Whitby; Lakeview Beach East and West in Oshawa; Bowmanville Beach East and West; Newcastle Beach Central; Kinsmen Beach in Port Perry; and Thorah Centennial Beach on Lake Simcoe all passed and are safe for swimming this long weekend.

Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.
