Whitby residents will never have to miss their little Gretzky-to-be score a goal again with the Town’s new livestream service, GameOnStream.

Six high-definition cameras now livestream the ice at Iroquois Park Sports Centre and two system share the action at McKinney Centre.

Viewers, be they coaches, parents or caregivers, can watch games play-by-play through their phone, tablets and computers. All they need to is glide over to GameOnStream.com to tune into the game.

The Whitby Girls Hockey Association, Whitby Minor Hockey Association and Eastern AAA Hockey games currently feature, but more leagues will get access over the coming seasons.

GameOnStream feature live score tracking, HD broadcast and several viewing angles to rival major sports broadcasts. The video feed can be backed up and paused for viewers to make their own instant replays.

Viewers will have to provide their own commentary, though that shouldn’t be an issue for passionate hockey fans. Games are also backed up and can be watched anytime after the upload.

GameOnStream features 55 channels showing everything from the Arran-Elderslie Hockey to the Whitby Wolves. Subscribers can even watch OHL games.

Anyone looking to watch has to sign up at the GamesOnStream website. Access will run viewers $11.99 a month.
