Whitby Civic Rec Centre to close for two days for construction

The Whitby Civic Recreation Centre is set to close for two days for construction.
The town is having two new rooftop units (RTUs) installed to provide the centre with air conditioning. The installation will require cranes and staging spaces, which will take up much of the parking lot. Citing safety concerns, Whitby will cut off access to both the centre and the parking lot until the RTUs are in place. All Health Club and fitness classes will also be cancelled.
While scheduled to take only two days to complete, the installation may take longer depending on wind and rain.
The facility is set to close from June 26 to 28 and the town expects service to resume on the 29. “We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and will keep you up to date,” the town wrote.
