A Whitby community centre is set to close on and off for one week for its annual maintenance.

The Brooklin Community Centre and Library is set to close from Sept. 5 to 12. The library side will remain closed until 1 p.m. every day throughout this period so workers can maintain the lights, dust hard-to-reach areas, clean the upholstery and carpets, and strip and wax the floors.

The library is usually open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. It will return to this schedule on Sept. 13.

The community centre side of the building will be closed intermittently from Sept. 5 to Sept. 10. The main gym is closed for a deep clean on Sept. 5 and 6. The multi-purpose rooms and youth room are closed on Sept. 7 and 8 for deep cleaning and floor repairs. The 55+ rooms will close on Sept 9 for floor repairs.

Further maintenance work will happen throughout the building on Sept. 9 and 10. The entirety of the Community Centre will resume service on Sept. 11.
