Whitby man charged with uttering threats while armed with pistol

A Whitby man was arrested after he was accused of threatening a man with a gun from his apartment window.
Durham Regional Police received a report of an armed man around Dundas Street West and Palace Street on Nov. 15. The report indicated a man had threatened another from his window while armed.
Officers soon surrounded the building and tried to negotiate the man’s surrender. This proved unsuccessful. Instead, police brought in their tactical unit to breach the apartment.
Inside they arrested a man but did not find a gun. William Joseph Bolton, 33 of Whitby is charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and breach of probation. He remains in custody until a ball hearing.
