Whitby, Oshawa dominate most expensive homes sold in July list

A custom-built bungalow in Brooklin’s exclusive Woodington enclave was the most expensive home sold in Durham Region in July, with the five-bedroom, 7,000 square-foot house selling July 14 for $3.79 million.
The home, which backs onto the Lynde Creek ravine on Camber Court, features four walk-outs and a deck spanning the back of the house, a family room with cathedral ceilings, two fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen, an inground pool and a basement that is an entertainer’s dream with a home theatre, a custom wet bar, a games room and a fitness area.
At number #2 was another Brooklin estate home, this one a five-bedroom Tudor-style house on 8.81 acres of hardwood sugar bush with. The home comes with a 4,000 sq ft. garage (with a three-bedroom in-law suite above) and is the perfect blend of rural tranquility and urban convenience. The home at 7470 Thickson Rd. N sold July 15 for $2.01 million.
The property was originally listed for $2.5 million in March and was re-listed in June for $2.299, eventually selling for $300,000 under the asking price.
Whitby took the fourth most expensive home sold as well, with a four-bedroom home on Mackey Drive in the sought-after Queen’s Common neighbourhood selling for $1.84 million.
Oshawa took the number three and five spots on the list, with a luxury five-bedroom home home in the prestigious Northglen neighbourhood taking third place. This custom-built corner lot estate on Stevenson Road (backing onto forested greenspace) offers 6,000 sq. ft of elegance and sophistication and was sold for $1.85 million.
At #5 is a four-bedroom home on Harlstone Crescent in northeast Oshawa that sold for $1.462 million.
