Whitby stabbing victim in hospital

A person in hospital after they were stabbed in a Whitby shopping plaza.

Durham Regional Police confirmed the attack shortly after 2:30 p.m. They said one person, who they did not describe, had been stabbed at 350 Taunton Rd. The area is home to Taunton Gardens, a large shopping plaza with numerous large stores and a gym. Police did not specify where in the plaza the attack occurred.

The victim was taken to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries. Information remains sparse, but police said they will provide more information as it becomes available. They did not provide any suspect information. They did say the attack appears to be an isolated incident.
