The Whitby Warriors are headed to the Ontario championships – AND the Minto Cup – after dispatching defending national Junior A champion (2019) Orangeville 9-4 before a packed house Friday night at Iroquois Park Sports Complex in Whitby.
Orangeville got as close as 4-3 in the Game 5 deciding match before Whitby pulled away for the win.
Whitby will now play Toronto Beaches, who are playing their home games at the Chestnut Hill Recreation Centre in Pickering, in the OJLL final. Game one in the best-of-three is Tuesday in Pickering.
Both teams qualify for the Minto Cup national champions, which will be held in Brampton.
