The Town of Whitby is reminding residents and visitors that the annual three-hour on-street parking restriction on all on-street parking is now in effect.

The restriction, which runs from November 1 to April 15, prohibits parking on all municipal roads between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Residents who park on residential streets during the hours of the ban may be issued a parking ticket.

The annual seasonal restriction is in place to prepare for winter conditions and also enable snow-plow operators to clear away ice and snow quickly and easily during the overnight hours when there is less traffic and impact on drivers.

On occasion, residents may have special circumstances (driveway repairs, etc.) that require a vehicle to be parked on the street during the hours of the ban. In such events, residents may apply online for a short-term parking permit though the temporary permits may be unavailable in the case of a winter event.

As a reminder, overnight parking is not permitted in any municipal parking lot or at any Town facilities including McKinney Centre, Brooklin Community Centre and Library, and Whitby Civic Recreation Complex.
