Woman arrested for drunk driving with five-year-old in car, two-year-old at home alone in Whitby

A woman has been arrested for drunk driving after she was pulled over with her five-year-old in the car.

Durham Regional Police officers were called about a suspected impaired driver around 9 a.m. on July 1. When the officers found the car on Columbus Rd. and Baldwin St., the driver, a 28-year-old woman, was allegedly visibly drunk.

When they stopped the car, the officers found the woman’s five-year-old child inside. They later learned the woman had left a two-year-old home alone.

The woman, who remains unidentified, has been charged with impaired driving and failure to comply. Police continue to investigate the woman.
