If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, as one lover of luxury cars found out the hard way.

Durham Regional Police are trying to identify a woman who bought a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GL250 last month in Pickering using fraudulent bank drafts, before selling the car online to a second victim for cash.

On May 11, the unknown female suspect purchased the vehicle with the bank drafts, and after she had gained possession re-sold it on an online platform, using the assumed name of the original seller.

Police were notified and the vehicle was returned to the original seller.

The woman is described as Black, 25-30 years old. 5’4″ tall, with fake eyelashes and a medium build.

Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Gordon of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2535.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca. Tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
