Woman faces nearly a dozen charges after fleeing from traffic stop in Clarington

A 43-year-old Northern Ontario woman faces a plethora of charges after she was caught fleeing from a traffic stop in Clarington early Wednesday morning.

East Division officers tried to pull over the woman just before 2 a.m. Wednesday near Highway 2 and Prestonvale Road in Courtice but she drove off and a short pursuit ensued. Officers were able to stop the suspect vehicle and the driver was taken into custody.

Stacey Hando, of Aweres Township (north of Sault Ste. Marie) is charged with impaired operation; flight from police; dangerous operation; fail/refuse to comply; drive no license; drive while suspended; fail to identify; litter highway; drive improper lights and unauthorized plate.

She was held for a bail hearing.
