Woman found on roadway in Ajax dies from her injuries, police search for driver who fled scene

A woman that was found lying injured on the road in Ajax has been pronounced dead.
Early Wednesday morning (Sept. 20), the 57-year-old woman was found lying on the roadway near the intersection of Kingston Road and Harwood Avenue, suffering from severe head trauma.
She was rushed to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
On Friday evening, police confirmed that she succumbed to her injuries.
“Investigators have been reviewing video surveillance and believe at this time that the female was struck by a northbound pick-up truck that fled the scene,” said Durham Regional Police.
There’s no further description of the vehicle or driver at this time.
