Woman hit by van in Oshawa now in serious – but non-life-threatening – condition in hospital

A 37-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a van in Oshawa Saturday evening.

Durham Police officers were called to King Street East and Central Park Boulevard just after nine p.m. for a report of an accident involving a pedestrian. Police say a woman was crossing the intersection when she was struck by an eastbound white Dodge Caravan.

First responders were on the scene the scene within minutes and provided medical assistance to the victim. The woman was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Her condition has since been upgraded to serious and she is listed in stable condition. The driver of the van did not sustain any injuries.

Collision Investigation Unit officers attended, and the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
