Youth seriously injured in shoes and cellphone robbery in Pickering; police search for 5 suspects

Police are searching for five suspects after a youth was seriously injured in a robbery in Pickering.
The youth reported the robbery in the Kingston Road and Rosebank Road area just after midnight on July 10, Durham Regional Police said in a press release on Thursday.
The victim planned to meet a friend in the area and parked his vehicle in a nearby lot, police said.
As he was walking toward a home, five men approached. The five men assaulted the youth, damaged his vehicle, and stole his shoes and cell phone, police said.
The suspects then fled the area in a dark-coloured vehicle.
The victim was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
