A woman killed in a Whitby car crash has been identified thanks to a fundraiser launched in her memory.

Molly Tanner, 21, was driving down Highway 412 on Aug. 17 when she rolled her car over near Taunton Road. She lost control of the car and rolled into the grassy area of the highway median.

When the OPP and paramedics arrived on scene, they pronounced Tanner dead.

Days later, Tanner’s sister Madie and their aunts launched a GoFundMe in her memory. “Fiercely loved and to be forever missed by her sister Madie; her best friend, Taco Bell and Starbucks companion and keeper of secrets,” the fundraiser reads, “Every memory of Molly’s short 21 years will be cherished and her smile and laugh desperately missed by her parents Sheri and Darren Tanner.”

“Molly Mooster stormed into your heart like she did into a room. She left an impact on everyone she met,” the aunts continued, “She lit up every gathering with her shy at first smile, but when you got to see her genuine smile and heard her laugh you wanted nothing more than to keep hearing it.”

They describe Tanner as already a world traveller including trips to Ireland, the UK, France, Greece Italy, St Lucia, the Dominican and Las Vegas. “As they had planned out over giggles and drinks, her cousins and Madie would love to take her spirit back to her favourite vacation location; Greece, celebrating her awesomeness by doing all the things she loved; eating, drinking, meeting interesting new people, and discovering new adventures,” the fundraiser reads.

“From drawing, painting, planting, playing music, learning new languages or nurturing her pets, she excelled at most everything she tried. She was an avid foodie with Indian food being her favourite, and rock collector,” they continued.

“We have absolutely no doubt that once she figured out her path in life, she would have been the most amazing success story. We desperately wish she could have had the time she deserved to figure things out. She will be desperately missed by her many, many relatives.”

The aunts have put the fundraiser together to help support Madie with an education fund. They launched just a few days ago and have already surpassed their $1,000 goal. However, the GoFundMe remains open for further donations.
